Tunica & Ride the Ducks We added Bally's this Spring to our Tunica itinerary. It was a nice change and the passengers enjoyed trying their luck at a different casino.
On Thursday, we hopped on our bus for our side trip to Ride the Ducks in Memphis, while some chose to stay in Tunica. The Captain gave us an interesting and entertaining insight to what we have not seen before in Memphis. We picked up our "Duck" on the famous Beale Street, which was hoppin' with activity, tourists and lively bands. We've not yet received the groups pictures ordered by our passengers, but we will post it as soon as received. Please be aware that most of the below pictures were taken while aboard the moving "Duck", so some are a bit distant.
Below is Sun Records, where Elvis made his first recording.
Houses in the "old money" Historic District.
Apartments where Elvis lived while attending school.
St. Jude's Research Hospital
What the locals refer to as the "Dolly Parton Bridge". This bridge is listed in the Guiness Book of World Records as being the largest "M" in the world. The boats are docked at the mariner off Mud Island, where we entered the river.
Construction on a bridge.
The back and front sides of what is known as "The Pyramid".
There are several riverboats and dinner cruises.
The Lorraine Motel, where Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. The old cars still remain and a white wreath on the upper balcony marks the area at which he was shot. The second picture is the Young and Morrow building.
After the wonderful sightseeing tour, we walked down the street to the famous Peabody Hotel to see the March of the Ducks on their little jaunt back to their penthouse for the evening.
