Coca Cola 600
May 26 - 29, 2006

A NASCAR race is heart pumping and exciting, even if you are not a NASCAR fan!

The morning of the Busch race, a step-on guide joined us to guide us to the PIT Training Facility owned by Jeff Hammond of ESPN - a truly state-of-the-art facility!  We were first shown a film on the training of pit crews and showing the dangers these people encounter during a race.  It was truly interesting!

Beautiful modern entrance.

Below is the beginning of the film, followed by our passengers intermingled with the rest of the attendees.

A recently graduated group of trainees gave us demonstrations of typical pit stops.

Below are some displays in the facility.

There was a guide at every phase of our tour.

The traffic on the day of the Busch race.  This did not even compare to the traffic on Cup Day.

Below will show the location of our seats at the Busch race.

Shopping the booths is first on the list once we get parked in the lot across the street.

Then it's back to the bus for a tailgate lunch before proceeding to the track.  We did some socializing with the Canadian passengers who were with the bus parked next to us.

Then on to the track to see the Coca Cola 600.

Pre-race activities, including a parade of our Servicemen.

Driver introductions.

And the race begins!!!

And our ever-lovin' driver, Paul!
