Fair Oaks Dairy
July 18, 2007

Fair Oaks Dairy Farms not only afforded us the opportunity to see how one of our staples, milk, comes to be, but also gave us the opportunity to witness the birthing of calves.

Fair Oaks sits on impeccably landscaped grounds with beautiful gardens.  There are also wonderful interaction areas for the children, as well as an outdoor playground.

Many thanks to Doug Leathem for sharing his pictures!

The above calf after being removed from the birthing area.

A mother and calf which we witnessed being born. We were not sure, but she acted as though she was going to give birth again to a second calf.

The Birthing Barn Gallery

The Fair Oaks tour bus which took us around the grounds for our narrated tour.

Boarding the Fair Oaks bus for our narrated tour.

The amazing carousel in the Milking Parlor.  If you look to the left in the background, you can see the herd waiting to enter the carousel.

The Maternity Barn.  If you look closely, you will see a cow about to give birth and 2 cows assisting her.

We were served a superb lunch!

Again, thank you, Doug, for great pictures!

7.18.07 - Kay and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip today.  Your attention to detail and friendliness added greatly to the value of the tour.  Thanks so much.      Doug L.
