Door County

August 2 - 6, 2004

The weather could not have been better if we had put in a special order!  We hope you enjoy viewing these pictures as much as we enjoyed the trip.

A beautiful setting above in Manitowac, Wisconsin - close to our hotel.

Below are pictures taken on our tour of Natural Ovens Bakery.  And yes, that is a stained glass window in the first picture - absolutely fabulous!

The pictures below were taken in the lovely gardens at Natural Ovens Bakery.

Below was our traveling veterinarian checking out one of the "farm cats".

Below is the car and passenger ferry we took to Washington Island.  The first picture shows them loading 1/2 of a modular home that was being delivered to the island.

Above is our Washington Island guide - Ed Livingston.

Above is the sign announcing the prayer path on the way to a truly magnificent church built by the residents of Washington Island. - pictured below.

The below pictures were taken inside the church.  The first picture is a tool belt that belonged to an elderly man who worked on the church every single day and died the day after the church was complete.  It hangs in an upper back corner of the church.

Pictured above - a goat grazing on the roof of a restaurant where we ate on the way back to our hotel from Washington Island.

Pictured below is the preparation of the fish at a Fish Boil at our hotel.  The large fire ("flash off") is a result of pouring kerosene on the fire to cause the water in the pot to boil over, ridding the pot of the residue that comes to the top of the pot while cooking.

Pictured above on the right is our driver.

Pictures below were taken at the Door County Bakery - a favorite of some WGN radio personalities.

Below - loading the bus onto the SS Badger to cross Lake Michigan from Manitowac to Ludington on our return home.

The weather again was perfect for crossing Lake Michigan.  As you can see, there were several sunbathers on the deck.
