Chicago "Neighbor-Hood" Gangster Tour
June 18, 2008

This was a quite interesting, unusual driving tour narrated by our step-on guide, John Binder, author of "The Chicago Outfit".  The knowledge and wealth of information John had all filed in his head was amazing!  I believe he answered every question that was asked of him on the subject.

6.23.08 - "I want to tell you again how much I enjoyed the gangster tour and Tommy Gun's last week. I have talked about nothing else for days!"

                                                                      Jeanne Hendricks

7.3.08 - "Great pictures !!!!!    I relived the whole trip in my mind.   What a great time and great step on and great guide !!!!"                     Sue Hendricks

Below are pictures of homes of some of the Chicago Gangsters in their heyday.  We also drove past several others that are not pictured.

The home of Sam Giancana

The home of Sam "Teets" Battaglia

The home of "Machine Gun" Jack McGurn

The home of Paul "The Waiter" Ricca

The home of "Tough Tony" Capezio

The 3 homes of Anthony "Joe Batters" Accardo

The home of Paul Ricca, which is now condos.

After dropping John, we then went to Tommy Gun's Garage for a fantastic lunch and a fun show.

Sue, one of our passengers, even got to help onstage.

Running a little ahead of schedule, we decided to make a stop at the lovely Millennium Park.

The first two pictures are what has become known as "The Bean", a stainless steel sculpture.  Look at that reflection of the Chicago skyline!

This wall has water flowing down its front, which pours into the very shallow pool below.  It was a sunny warm day and the children (as well as adults) were having fun playing in the "pool".  The images on the wall rotate the likenesses of the people of Chicago.  Intermittently, water flows from their mouths into the pool below.  An amazing creation!

And last but not least, Don Weirich, our driver of the day from Cardinal Buses.
