Chicago Day Trip TravelStarz has partnered with the Varsity Clubs of America to offer day trips to their time-share guests who have come to visit the South Bend/Mishawaka area from across the country and Canada. We boarded a wonderful group and headed to Chicago for the day, with our first stop being a perfect photo opportunity of the Chicago skyline.
Next, we moved on to the beautiful Millennium Park. The first picture is one of the waterfall walls with an animated illustration of one of the children of Chicago. They have taken 1,000 photos of the people of Chicago, which rotate over these 2 walls. Water flows down its face and intermittently spews water from the mouth, which flows into the shallow "pool" below. It was a very warm day and the children were running, jumping and rolling in the water, having the time of their lives.
Next, of course, is "The Bean" reflecting the Chicago skyline, followed by a piece of artwork in progress.
The Chicago Symphony was practicing in the band shell that morning and there was a "Family Fun Festival" being held under the tent.
We then boarded the bus again and headed for Navy Pier. Everyone had some time to browse a bit and grab lunch before we headed for a 1 1/2 hour narrated architectural tour aboard the Seadog. If you have never done an architectural tour, this is a must the next time you visit Chicago!
The light at the end of the adjacent pier, The pavilion at the end of Navy Pier, and a beautiful tall ship taking down its sails.
After going through the locks from Lake Michigan to the Chicago River, breathtaking views on each side of the river awaited ahead. The entire river is lined with a stellar view of hotels, eateries and office buildings with beautiful hanging baskets along the fence. Before returning to the pier, we were given a great speedboat ride across the lake. What fun! The Wrigley Building
