Cape Cod, Boston and Maine

September 27 - October 2, 2006

Our local Tour Director, Mary Lou Zirnheld from the Boston area, set up a fabulous trip!  Our days were packed with wonderful scenery, super activities and a wealth of information about our country's beginning.

Sit back and enjoy the pictures of this magnificent area of our beautiful country.

We overnighted at the Adams Mark in Buffalo, New York en route and on the return home.  We arrived about an hour early, so we dropped off our luggage and headed for an extra treat to the U.S. side of Niagara Falls.

10.2.06 - Thank you for a great trip.  We had a fabulous time.  Sincerely, Ron & Barbara K.

10.2.06 - Thanks so much for a fun and interesting trip.  Love & God Bless, Dolly K.

10.3.06 - It was a great trip and I can't say enough good about all of you - you, Paul, Mary Lou.  You made it fun, comfortable, safe, and educational.  I will definitely be watching for other trips on your agenda and will gladly recommend you to anyone.  Dottie A.

10.18.06 - Bob and I want to sincerely thank you for a memorable trip to Cape Cod.  Your professional planning and execution was evident throughout the entire "voyage".  Your personal choices as to our excellent driver (Paul), our very informative tour director, Mary Lou, our great hotels and restaurants, and our whale-watching, lobster boat, Niagara Falls, historical sites experiences are beyond mere words.  The whole trip truly exceeded Bob's and my expectations.  We have talked about our trip, you and TravelStarz to everyone who would listen.  We will continue to recommend TravelStarz and plan to travel with you in the future.  Thanks again.        Joann S.

In the morning, we headed to Hyannis and our lovely hotel, Hyannis Harbor Hotel, right across the street from a harbor where boats were docked.  We refreshed and walked across the street for our first dinner in the Cape Cod area.

And Ann goofing off with our crazy bus driver.

Some scenery on the way to Provincetown the next morning.

The pier where we caught the boat for our whale watching cruise.

And the thrill of a lifetime!  Seeing humpback whales in their natural habitat.  We saw 5 whales, including a mother with her calf.  Some of the whales I estimate to have been 30 feet from our boat.  The bright green under the water are their flippers.  The Naturalist Guides aboard our boat had the whales named, know where they go for the winter and know when they return.

And a mother with her calf.

The tourist area of Provincetown, where we boarded the whale watching cruise.

During our free time, our driver, Paul, and I decided to take a dune buggy ride.  The first picture is of our driver and guide, Al, of Art's Dune Tours.  An excellent guide with a wealth of information about the area.

An old windmill and stops along the route to Chatham.

That evening was a traditional lobster dinner.  Mary Lou showed everyone how to get every last piece of meat out of our lobsters.

In the morning, we departed for Martha's Vineyard, with a couple of stops for photo opportunities along the way.

Then on to Plymouth Harbor, the Mayflower II and Plymouth Rock.

We then moved on to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, where we first sat in on a film of Rose Kennedy, them moved on to explore the museum.

We then departed for our Boston City Tour, North Church, the U.S.S. Constitution and a walk thru Harvard yard.

The U.S.S. Constitution.

North Church

The streets of Boston and Paul Revere's house.

Then a stop at Quincy Market for a little shopping and lunch.  And who did we run in to?  None other than Norm at Cheers!

We then did a walk thru Harvard Yard, which is the dorms for the freshmen attending Harvard.

Dinner that evening was at Phillip's Restaurant in Boston.

We then departed the Comfort Inn and arrived at Ogunquit for our Lobster Boat Cruise, with some wonderful photo opportunities along the way.

Below is a picture of a few of the men who were preparing to go scuba diving.

Aboard the lobster fishing boat and the Captain bringing up lobster traps.

We returned to and had a lovely ocean path walk along Parson's Way to Perkin's Cove.

Then on to Kennebunkport for lunch and shopping.  We also drove past Walker Point, the Bush summer home.

Our next stop was the Portland Head Light overlooking Casco Bay.

The next morning, we dropped off our Tour Director and headed for Buffalo for the night.  We again added a little extra stop at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Oneida, New York, where they gave us a little money to play with, along with dollars off on our dinner.
